Face Masks are Recommended to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19
Over the past several weeks there has been confusing guidance on whether or not to wear a face mask or covering. The most recent guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you wear a face covering to help slow the spread of COVID-19 when it is necessary for you to be in public.
Please note that everyone in Georgia should be sheltering at home unless they are essential workers or must venture out for prescriptions, groceries, or needed supplies. If you must go in public, do not forget a face mask and to practice social distancing, which means keeping a distance of six to 10 feet between yourself and other people not part of your immediate family or with who you live.
It is important to understand that face coverings do not keep you safe from contacting the virus. Instead, they help people who may have the virus but don’t know it from transmitting it to others in your community.
Some dos and don’ts for you to remember:
Do stay at home as much as possible.
Do wear face mask/covering when you must go out in public.
Do make sure your face covering fits snugly against the side of your face.
Do wash your face mask in hot water on a regular basis.
Do take short walks in your neighborhood and get outside time away from the general public.
Do wash your hands for at least 20 seconds frequently and use hand sanitizer.
Don’t play group sports such as basketball, visit crowded state and national parks or trails, or allow your children to play on structures at playgrounds.
Don’t put a face mask on a child two-years old or younger, or anyone who has trouble breathing.Don’t wear surgical face masks or N-95 respirators. If you have any of these masks, consider donating them to a local hospital.
