Join us in celebrating seasonal foods with Harvest of the Month

The Georgia Early Care and Education Harvest of the Month is a collaborative campaign between Quality Care for Children, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, Georgia Department of Human Services, and Georgia Organics.

The campaign aims to encourage healthy eating habits by promoting a different local, seasonal fruit or vegetable each month.

We’ve put together a variety of resources to help you incorporate the Harvest of the Month item into the classroom, kitchen, and home.

What’s in My Garden: A Food Mystery Book

Our specially created book offers educators and families a fun way to teach children about food and agriculture while incorporating literacy best practices. Visit our book page to download free copies of the book and teacher’s guide!

I absolutely LOVE going in to classrooms and seeing students explore foods hands on. They use mystery boxes to feel and explore the foods without seeing them; they use them to paint. Allowing students to explore foods and cooking utensils/tools makes the students more likely to try and enjoy new healthy foods and want to eat them more.
