Explore Georgia This Summer
This summer may feel a lot different and a little less carefree than the ones before COVID-19, but you can still plan activities and find adventures to enjoy with your family while practicing pandemic safety measures. Experts in public health and medical groups such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention agree that families can venture out again if they adhere to a few basic principles:
Plan outside adventures as they are less risky to exposure of COVID than indoor activities.
Stick to smaller groups and maintain physical distancing.
If visiting friends and loved ones, keep visits short.
Everyone over two years of age should be masked in public.
While your local pools and parks may still be closed, Georgia offers many wonders that may be just a short car ride away. We’ve provided a few suggestions below to help you play tourist in your home state this summer!
Enjoy Georgia’s State Parks
With 63 state parks and historic sites, Georgia has lots of space for you and your family to roam. You can choose day or overnight trips in state parks ranging from the north Georgia mountains to the coast and everywhere in between.
Many state parks offer tent and RV camping sites as well as cabins, cottages and yurts. There are miles and miles of trails that take you past waterfalls, over mountains, in caves and near lakes and marsh. You can hike, bike, fish, boat, picnic, golf and even learn new skills like archery.
Before you go, check in with each individual park to see any new rules and regulations due to the pandemic. Some parks are experiencing large crowds and staff may be temporarily limiting access during the day.
