From the start of your opening journey to maintaining quality and growing your business, we’re here to assist you in achieving lasting success.
Starting your business
Orientation
If you’re interested in opening a Family Child Care Learning Home (FCCLH), you must complete a three-hour licensing orientation session offered through the Georgia Professional Development System (GaPDS).
Training
After completing licensing orientation, you’ll need to take basic training courses designed to prepare you for caring for children. You must complete 10 hours of online training, choosing one session from each of five topic areas. We’ll help you choose the right courses, many of which we provide for free. Additionally, you will need CPR and First Aid for Infants and Children training in a classroom setting with a licensed healthcare professional. We can help with that too!
Licensing requirements
As you prepare to open your child care program, navigating zoning regulations, business licensing, and fire inspection requirements can be complex. We’re here to help you understand all that is required for your specific situation.
Business resources
Our team delivers one-on-one or group coaching, business automation guidance, access to business experts, and back office assistance that enables you to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time focusing on caring and educating young children.
Sources and materials
As you launch your new child care business, you will need a variety of business-related documents, including parent contracts, handbooks, and policies. By using templates developed by our licensing experts, you will have reliable materials that meet licensing requirements and save you valuable time -- meaning that you won’t have to start from scratch!
Rate-setting
Our business coaches will help you better understand the average price of child care in your community, develop an annual budget that is specific to your business, and ensure that you launch your business with rates that cover the cost per child, and that empower you to serve your community and maximize your profits.
